Yobe Gov’t declares Feb 7 work-free day in honour of late Gov Bukar

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has declared Wednesday, February 7, a work-free day to mark a three-day prayers for the late former Governor of the state, Sen Bukar Abba Ibrahim.

The Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the governor, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, said this while addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Damaturu.

The late Sen. Bukar Abba Ibrahim had served as the senator representing Yobe East senatorial district from 2007 to 2019, and twice as governor of the state from 1992 to 1993 and from 1999 to 2007.

The Director General, Press, said the work-free day was set aside to offer prayers for the former governor who died in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

He said the Yobe State government had officially taken over the funeral rites to honour the late governor, adding that the three-day prayers, would be offered at the Government House Mosque, Damaturu.

Alhaji Mamman also explained that Gov Buni, along with government officials and the family of the late governor, has been receiving condolences from sympathisers from within and outside the state at the Government House, Damaturu.
