A House of Representatives member, Yusuf Gagdi, and his wife, Layla Ali Othman, have taken a firm stance against Sadiya Ahmad Marshall, an Abuja-based socialite, following her viral video containing defamatory remarks.
In the video, Marshall made serious allegations against Mrs. Gagdi, including an illicit relationship with a convicted individual serving time in Kuje prison. Additionally, she accused Mrs. Gagdi of engaging in immoral activities and selling substandard furniture, among other damaging claims.
In response, Gagdi and his wife have engaged legal representation, demanding a public apology from Marshall within seven days. They have cited the severe political and personal repercussions of the false accusations, expressing that Marshall’s statements have caused them significant harm.
The couple’s lawyers, J.J. Usman, SAN, and CO, highlighted the impact of Marshall’s allegations, emphasizing the deliberate intent to tarnish their clients’ reputations and incite public disdain. They also insinuated that Marshall’s actions may have been instigated by political adversaries, further complicating the situation.
The legal representatives asserted that Marshall’s defamatory statements have caused immense distress, tarnishing their clients’ standing within their political and social spheres. Moreover, they demanded a retraction of the statements within three days, warning of impending legal action if their demands were not met.
The Gagdis’ firm stance serves as a testament to their commitment to protecting their integrity and upholding their public image. It remains to be seen how Marshall will respond to these grave allegations and whether an amicable resolution can be reached to resolve this distressing conflict.
