The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has vehemently rejected the outcome of the Shinkafi State House of Assembly rerun election held on February 3, 2024. The party has declared that the election results will not be recognized at the election petition tribunal.

In a statement, the APC asserted that the declared results by the Returning Officer flagrantly violated the Electoral Act of 2022 and demonstrated a blatant disregard for the rule of law, describing it as a gross infringement of democracy that is indefensible both legally and morally. The party has vowed to pursue all legal avenues to challenge the outcome.

Alhaji Yariman Kwaren Ganuwa, the Publicity Secretary of APC in Zamfara State, signed the statement, expressing the party’s unwavering support for the court rulings and condemning the perceived manipulation of the will of the people of Shinkafi Local Government Area by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its allies.

The statement further reassured the people of Shinkafi State Constituency, urging them to remain composed as the APC prepares to engage in a legal battle to reclaim what it views as a “stolen mandate.” The party maintained that its candidate, Hon Usman Shettima Mahmud Aliyu, is the rightful winner of the election based on valid votes, emphasizing the sanctity of the electoral process.

APC categorically stated that the purported selection of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Mustapha Usman Shinkafi, will not be accepted, setting the stage for a contentious legal dispute over the legitimacy of the election outcome.
