President Bola Tinubu has urged the Nigerian military and security agencies to intensify efforts to address the country’s various security challenges. Tinubu made these remarks during the induction of two TK-129 ATAK Helicopters and a King Air 360i Aircraft at Nigeria Air, NAF, Base, Makurdi, in Benue state.

The statement by the Spokesperson of Vice President Kashim Shettima mentioned that President Tinubu was represented at the event by Shettima. He reiterated the administration’s continued support for the nation’s security forces through modernization of fleets, training, and welfare of personnel. Tinubu recalled the recent commissioning and induction of four additional Diamond-62 surveillance aircraft into the arsenal of the Nigerian Air Force, highlighting the government’s commitment to patriotism and investment in the nation’s security.

Tinubu emphasized the necessity of acquiring helicopters and aircraft to enhance the strategic use of air power in combating terrorism, insurgency, and other security challenges. He also called for an improvement in the performance of the nation’s security forces, underscoring the deployment of these platforms to bolster the combat efficiency of the Nigerian Air Force. Despite budgetary constraints, Tinubu expressed the government’s commitment to ensuring that every sector of the nation benefits from vital changes promised.

Acknowledging the Nigerian Air Force’s critical roles in national security, peacekeeping, and global humanitarian operations since its establishment in 1964, Tinubu commended the force’s contributions to peace and security in various regions. He also noted the improved coordination among security agencies and emphasized the need to eliminate security threats, bring troops back to their localities, and allocate resources to the nation’s critical economic expansion programme.

At the ceremony, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the air force’s capability to confront security challenges by equipping and empowering the force. The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru, lauded the armed forces’ dedication to executing their assignments in alignment with the present administration’s counter-terrorism plan, emphasizing the importance of a positive maintenance culture in utilizing government-purchased platforms.

In conclusion, Tinubu’s call for an enhanced response to Nigeria’s security challenges reflects a resolute stance on combating threats and prioritizing national security.
