In a recent interview with BBC Hausa, Ali Nuhu, the director of the Nigerian Film Corporation and a prominent actor, emphasized the potential of Nigerian filmmaking to rehabilitate the country’s integrity. Nuhu highlighted that currently, only 35% of Nigerian films meet the desired quality standard, falling short of the expected 70-75%.
Addressing the disparity, Nuhu articulated, “When you scrutinize the films originating from Nigeria’s film industry, you will notice that only 30-35% attain the requisite level of quality vis-à-vis the target of 70-75%. Therefore, I will concentrate on rectifying this discrepancy by promoting education and ensuring the availability of superior film production equipment.”
He further expressed, “Our aspiration is to elevate the industry to global eminence because we prioritize quality over quantity. The proliferation of subpar productions has tarnished Nigeria’s reputation, and thus, it is imperative to employ films as a means to redeem our integrity.”
