Abducted Abia State University Official, Prof Emezue, Rescued and Hospitalized

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of Abia State University, Prof Godwin Emezue, who was abducted by unknown individuals, has regained his freedom after being held captive for about two weeks.
Emezue was taken while refueling his car at a Umuahia filling station by the perpetrators, who also seized an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card from his wife before forcing him into their vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Subsequently, the kidnappers demanded a substantial ransom from Emezue’s family, and upon payment, he was released. However, it has been reported that Emezue suffered physical assault while in captivity and has been promptly admitted to an undisclosed medical facility.
Although the Abia State University management, the state’s police command, and Emezue’s family have not issued official statements regarding his release, several close associates in Umuahia have verified this development.
