The headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has been unexpectedly sealed by officials suspected to belong to the Umuahia Capital Development Authority (UCDA), creating a stir in the political arena. The sealing, which occurred at 45 Finbers Road, Umuahia, remains shrouded in mystery as no official reason has been presented for this action.
A notice posted on the building directs occupants to visit the UCDA’s office at 51 Ogurube layout, Umuahia for further information, leaving the public in suspense about the purpose behind this move.
In a parallel development, the Abia State chapter of the PDP has raised concerns over the delayed swearing-in of Aaron Uzodike, a PDP member declared as the rightful representative of Aba North constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly. Despite the Appeal Court’s verdict in Uzodike’s favor and the removal of Destiny Nwagwu of the LP, the constituency remains without a lawmaker. The PDP, through its Vice Chairman and Acting Publicity Secretary, Abraham Amah, has condemned this power play as an act of impunity.
Highlighting that Uzodike possesses the essential Certificate of Return issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the PDP questions the Speaker’s refusal to administer the oath of office to Uzodike. This impasse has intensified political tensions and raised pertinent questions about the democratic process in Abia State.
