INEC engages Borno stakeholders security agencies over Chibok by election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the victors of Saturday’s rerun and by-election. The ceremony took place at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

Among the recipients were Prof. Anthony Okorie, the Senator-elect for Ebonyi South, Mr. Pam Dachungyang, the Senator-elect for Plateau North, and Musa Mustapha, the Senator-elect for Yobe East. Additionally, Ifeanyi Ozokwe, Clara Nnabuife, Ehindero Babatunde, and Daniel Ago received their certificates as Representatives-elect.

In his remarks, Senator-elect Okorie dedicated his victory to the people of Ebonyi South and assured them of his commitment to representing their interests in the Senate. Similarly, Uzokwe expressed gratitude to INEC for conducting a free, fair, and credible election, emphasizing the significance of stronger institutions for Nigeria’s advancement.

Furthermore, Ozokwe praised President Bola Tinubu for abstaining from interference in the electoral process and commended the security personnel for their professional conduct during the election. Nnabuife, in turn, thanked the people of Orumba North/Orumba South, particularly the women, for their unwavering support and entrusted mandate, vowing to uphold their trust.

The issuance of the Certificates of Return marks a significant step in the democratic process, as the elected officials prepare to assume their responsibilities and represent the aspirations of their constituents.
