The 2024 MOBO Awards, which took place in Sheffield, United Kingdom, on Wednesday, culminated with Nigerian sensation, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, triumphing in the category of Best African Artist of the Year. Asake’s victory saw off stiff competition from industry heavyweights such as Davido, Ayra Starr, Rema, and Grammy-winning South African songstress Tyla.

This achievement cements Asake’s status among the elite in African music, as he joins the esteemed company of 2Baba, D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as a recipient of this prestigious accolade at the MOBO Awards.

In addition to Asake’s triumph, Nigerian artist Limoblaze secured the Best Gospel Act title, while British-Nigerian rapper Tunde emerged victorious in the Best New Artist category.

Notably, British rapper Central Cee claimed dual honors, securing the titles of Best Male Act and earning the Song of the Year award alongside British-Nigerian rapper Dave for their collaboration on ‘Sprinter.’

The international sphere also witnessed a momentous occasion as Drake and 21 Savage were jointly recognized as the Best International Act. Furthermore, Soul II Soul was bestowed with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award, underscoring their enduring contribution to the music industry.
