Timaya Criticizes Nigerian Awards, Compares Them to Grammys

Nigerian artist Timaya has expressed his doubts about the credibility of Nigerian music awards, comparing them unfavorably to the prestigious Grammys. In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, Timaya stated that Nigerian awards, including the Hip-hop awards and Hip TV awards, are not credible and are even worse than the Grammys. He addressed the controversy surrounding the Grammy’s snub of Nigerian nominees and emphasized the need for a credible homegrown award that would attract artists and fans alike. Despite the setback at the Grammys, Timaya remains optimistic about the future of Nigerian music on the global stage.
