Nigerian Troops Neutralize Insurgents and Rescue Kidnap Victims in Kaduna

Nigerian Army troops from the I Division have achieved significant success in combating insurgency in Kaduna State. In a recent series of events, the troops neutralized four insurgents, while also rescuing eleven kidnap victims.

According to Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Lt. Gen. Musa Yahaya, the troops were engaged in a firefight during a patrol in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. In the ensuing battle, four insurgents were neutralized, with others fleeing the scene with gunshot wounds. The recovered items included three AK-47 rifles, seven AK-47 rifle magazines, and two motorcycles.

Additionally, the division received information on insurgent movements in Kwaga village, leading to a swift interception by the troops. The insurgents, overwhelmed by the troops’ firepower, abandoned their victims and fled into the forest. Consequently, all eleven kidnapped victims were successfully rescued.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had been kidnapped from Masuku village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. The rescued individuals received immediate medical attention and were subsequently reunited with their families.

Maj-Gen Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding I Division and Force Commander Operation “WHIRL Media Talk Africa,” commended the troops for their remarkable accomplishments. He urged the public to continue providing real-time intelligence to the troops and other security agencies. Furthermore, he appealed to locals to report individuals seeking medical assistance for gunshot wounds to the authorities promptly.

These recent achievements underscore the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Army in addressing security challenges and combating insurgent activities in the region.
