Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, received a boost ahead of their AFCON 2023 final against Cote d’Ivoire as left-back Zaidu Sanusi returned to training. The team’s head coach, Jose Peseiro, confirmed Sanusi’s participation in the training session despite his previous absence due to a minor hamstring injury.
Peseiro stated, “Zaidu trained with the team yesterday. We have another training later, we will check if he can play.” This development comes after Sanusi missed the semi-final clash against South Africa. With just days remaining before the crucial final match, the 26-year-old’s potential return presents a positive sign for the Super Eagles.
Having already made five appearances for Nigeria in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Sanusi’s presence could significantly bolster the team’s defensive line. Nigeria is set to face hosts Cote d’Ivoire at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, in what promises to be an intense and high-stakes encounter on Sunday.
