South Africa’s Coach, Broos, Applauds Team’s Mentality in AFCON Third-Place Win

South Africa’s head coach, Hugo Broos, expressed his admiration for his team’s performance after securing victory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) third-place final against DR Congo. The match concluded with a 0-0 draw, leading to a thrilling 6-5 penalty shoot-out triumph for Bafana Bafana.

Following the intense match in Abidjan, Broos commended his players for their exceptional mentality, stating, “I said after the Nigeria match that I was proud of this team, and I think today people can see why I say I am proud of this team.”

Despite acknowledging their fatigue, Broos highlighted the impressive determination demonstrated by the team, emphasizing, “We were not fresh but when you see the mentality in that group, it is impressive. The boys did very well. They showed great mentality.”
