The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced its involvement in the investigation of the tragic helicopter crash that resulted in the loss of Herbert Wigwe, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc. Wigwe, along with his wife and son, was aboard the Eurocopter EC130 helicopter when it crashed near the California-Nevada border.

FAA disclosed that the crash occurred at approximately 10 pm California time (7 am Nigerian time) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will lead the investigation and provide updates. It has been noted that another prominent figure, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), was also on the helicopter.

The local news outlet, KTLA 5 News, reported that the helicopter had departed from Palm Springs, but its destination remains unclear. Additionally, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Wigwe’s business partner and former CEO of Access Bank, and Tunde Folawiyo, a prominent business figure, were reportedly on a separate helicopter.

The circumstances surrounding this tragic event have sparked global interest, and the FAA’s commitment to the investigation brings hope for uncovering the truth behind this devastating loss.
