February 11, 2024

Super Eagles

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have lost to the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Eagles took the lead in the 38th minute from a Troost-Ekong header.

Ivory Coast beat DR Congo 1-0 in the semifinal thanks to Sebastian Haller, who was starting his first game of the tournament.

A commentator, Olu Alakeji said: “Nigeria have only themselves to blame for simply not showing up today. They were made to pay for their lethargic performance.

It’s a sad end for the Super Eagles but a glorious one for the elephants who rose from the dead to win their third AFCON title.

The magic of this tournament and the never-say-die attitude of Les Elephants completes a fairytale end to this tournament.”
