Katsina State Government has committed to offering psychosocial support to women and youth grappling with drug abuse in the state. Zainab Musa-Musawa, the Commissioner of Women Affairs, emphasized the government’s intention to collaborate with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to address the issue of drug and substance abuse by women in the state.

She stated that the ministry has developed a strategic roadmap to combat drug abuse, with a focus on advocacy campaigns to raise awareness of the dangers of drug abuse among women. Several non-governmental organizations have expressed interest in partnering with the government for this cause.

Furthermore, the commissioner expressed concern over the impact of drug abuse on women’s futures and highlighted the government’s aim to counsel and empower affected women to reintegrate into productive roles within their families and communities. The government plans to visit NDLEA rehabilitation centers to assess the extent of rehabilitation efforts for young women.

Mrs. Musa-Musawa’s commitment to the fight against drug abuse underscores the government’s dedication to helping women overcome this significant challenge in the region.
