Shell Delivers 475,000 Barrels of Crude Oil to Port Harcourt Refinery

In a major development, the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited (PHRC) has received a substantial supply of 475,000 barrels of crude oil from the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited. This significant supply was facilitated through Shell’s Bonny Oil & Gas Terminal (BOGT).

Dr. Osagie Okunbor, the Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria and Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), emphasized the collaborative efforts between BOGT and PHRC in ensuring the success of this project. The efficient collaboration and dedication of both teams played a pivotal role in making this supply a reality.

According to Osita Nnajiofor, the Bonny Terminal Installation Manager, stringent quality checks were conducted to verify that the supplied crude oil met the required standards before being delivered to the refinery.

Prior to the supply, comprehensive assessments of pipeline integrity and maintenance activities at the BOGT refinery export pumps were carried out. These meticulous measures ensured the safe and successful completion of the refinery supply, without any harm to people, environment, or equipment.

The recommencement of crude oil supply from the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal to the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited marks a significant achievement and a potential game-changer for the industry. This development aligns with the federal government’s efforts to ensure a steady supply of petroleum products to the downstream market, ultimately benefiting the nation’s economy.

It is worth noting that the Port Harcourt Refinery had recently completed mechanical rehabilitation in December last year, setting the stage for further advancements in the refinery’s operations and contributions to the Nigerian market.
