Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has refuted any ongoing association with Daniel Bwala, who previously served as a spokesperson for his campaign during the 2022 presidential election.
In a recent statement from his media office, Atiku clarified that Bwala’s connection to him was solely in the capacity of a campaign spokesperson from 2022 to early 2023. Atiku emphasized that Bwala did not hold any position as his aide beyond this specific role.
“It is crucial for the media and the public to accurately understand that Mr. Daniel Bwala was not an aide to His Excellency Atiku Abubakar. Bwala extended his services and support to the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation as a spokesperson – a position he held during the last presidential campaign,” the statement explained.
Bwala had previously expressed his interest in working in the Tinubu administration and had a meeting with the President in Paris, France. Following the meeting, Bwala conveyed a hopeful message from Tinubu.
In a post on social media, Bwala wrote: “It was a pleasure to meet with the father of the nation, President Bola Tinubu, in Paris today. He continues to share his thoughts and demonstrate his passion to lead Nigeria out of the woods.” This marked his second meeting with the Nigerian leader, following an earlier encounter at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
After facing public scrutiny, Bwala disclosed that he had informed Atiku about his decision before meeting the president.
