The Media Office of former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has clarified that Daniel Bwala should not be addressed as a former aide to Atiku. The office stated that Bwala served as a spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation during the 2023 polls, not as Atiku’s aide.
The statement emphasized, “Bwala is a former spokesperson of Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation and not a former aide to the former Vice President. It is important that the media and the general public take corrective note of defining Mr. Daniel Bwala as an aide to His Excellency Atiku Abubakar.”
The office further highlighted, “Bwala offered his services and support to the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation as a spokesperson – and it was a position he held during the last presidential campaign. Subsequently, and after the election, the need for a campaign spokesperson has terminated, and Bwala has moved on with his career. This, therefore, serves as notice to the media and the interested public to desist from defining Bwala as an ex-aide of Atiku Abubakar.”
The media office urged the public to recognize and define Daniel Bwala by his current vocation and alliance.
Earlier in January, Bwala expressed his commitment to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu, even if it means defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He stated, “I told him today, I am committing to play my part to support your administration, and I have no apologies to anybody. APC is a party. President Bola Tinubu is my motivation; if supporting him will take me to APC, so be it.”
Bwala, a staunch critic of the APC and the Tinubu administration, also urged opposition political parties to form a strong coalition to successfully challenge the governing APC in the 2027 general elections.
