Impressive Voter Turnout Marks Taraba’s Supplementary Elections

The recent supplementary election for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency seat in Taraba State drew a remarkable number of voters to polling units on Wednesday.

At all fifteen polling units in Jalingo metropolis, voters eagerly lined up as early as 7:00 am, displaying their enthusiasm to participate in the electoral process. The peaceful and orderly atmosphere observed during this election stood in contrast to the previous rerun held on February 3rd, 2024.

Accreditation and voting began promptly at 8:30 am, with tight security measures in place to ensure a smooth process. Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Suldi, the state chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, expressed satisfaction with the turnout, although he suggested that even more voters might have participated if the election had been scheduled for a weekend.

Various political party representatives echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging the improved turnout compared to the inconclusive rerun election held the previous week. This supplementary election is being closely monitored by stakeholders, adding to the heightened anticipation and scrutiny surrounding the process.
