The chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, issued a warning to governors of the opposing People’s Democratic Party (PDP), urging them to refrain from making statements that could stoke public unrest against the Federal Government. This came as a response to a demand by the PDP Governors for the APC-led federal government to urgently address the escalating economic hardships in Nigeria.
Uzodimma emphasized the necessity of collaboration in addressing the nation’s security and economic crises rather than engaging in mutual blame. The PDP governors had expressed distress over the economic hardships faced by Nigerians, attributing it to the economic and security challenges confronting the nation, and drawing a parallel with Venezuela.
In rebuttal to the PDP governors’ press conference, Uzodimma chided them for failing to offer feasible solutions despite highlighting various economic issues. He urged leaders to acknowledge President Bola Tinubu’s efforts toward long-term resolutions.
Uzodimma emphasized the imperative for Nigerians and other national institutions to take decisive actions for collective relief. Additionally, he referenced the adage, “you cannot make an omelette without breaking an egg,” underlining the temporary hardships resulting from economic policies and expressing optimism for future prosperity.
