The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South East region has commenced efforts to engage with prominent Igbo leaders in a bid to strengthen its presence in the area.
Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, the South East National Vice Chairman of the party, along with the party’s Zonal Organizing Secretary, Dozie Ikedife, former Senator Chief Emma Anosike, and Vice Chairman Anambra APC, Emma Ekwuaju, paid a courtesy visit to the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, at his palace on Thursday.
During the visit, the APC leaders conveyed their deep respect for the monarch and emphasized the significance of his leadership in guiding the people. Arodiogbu, speaking on behalf of the delegation, highlighted the importance of garnering support for the APC in the South East despite existing reservations within the Igbo community, emphasizing that aligning with the APC would facilitate access to the benefits of democracy.
Arodiogbu also assured the monarch of the party’s profound regard for traditional institutions, underscoring the importance of seeking counsel from esteemed traditional rulers like Igwe Achebe.
Expressing admiration for Igwe Achebe’s wisdom and insight on national issues, Arodiogbu reiterated the APC’s commitment to respecting and actively seeking guidance from traditional rulers.
In response, Igwe Achebe thanked the party leaders for the visit and extended his well wishes for their consultation endeavors.
