Super Falcons’ Head Coach Randy Waldrum and Defender Ashleigh Plumptre Return for 2024 Olympic Qualifier Against Cameroon

The highly anticipated 2024 Women’s Olympic football tournament qualifying fixture will witness the comeback of American coach Randy Waldrum to lead the Super Falcons against Cameroon. After Waldrum’s previous contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expired, prolonged negotiations have finally resulted in an agreement for a contract extension. His assistant, Justin Maduagu, had been interim coach in the meantime.

In a significant boost for the Super Falcons, central defender Ashleigh Plumptre will return for the crucial fixture against the Indomitable Lionesses. Plumptre’s absence dates back to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Round of 16 game against England.

The much-anticipated showdown between Nigeria and Cameroon is set to kick off at the Stade de la Reunification, Douala, next Friday, with the return leg scheduled for Monday, February 26, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
