Bola Tinubu Vows to End Food Importation and Combat Hoarding

During a meeting with government officials, President Bola Tinubu made a bold statement declaring his refusal to approve food importation or establish a price control board. He emphasized the need to thwart speculators and hoarders who hinder efforts to make food widely accessible to all Nigerians.

Tinubu instructed security agencies to inspect warehouses amid reports of large-scale hoarding in Kano State and other areas. He stated, “We cannot allow speculators, hoarders, and rent seekers to undermine our efforts in ensuring that food is widely available to all Nigerians.”

The President further elaborated, “I will not establish a price control board, nor will I approve the importation of food. We must extricate ourselves from this predicament because importation only enables rent seekers to perpetrate fraud and mismanagement at our collective expense.” Instead, he pledged to support farmers with initiatives encouraging increased food cultivation.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of swiftly implementing livestock development and management plans, including dairy farming, to address the nation’s food challenges.
