The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, recently addressed a National Policy Summit in Abuja, emphasizing the positive outcomes of President Bola Tinubu’s transformative policies for Nigeria. Bagudu encouraged Nigerians to take ownership of the government, engaging with its policies and holding public officials accountable.
During the summit themed “Activating the Policies and Promises in the President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Bagudu highlighted the challenges Nigeria faces, particularly its budget constraints. He emphasized the need for substantial investment, drawing comparisons to countries like Singapore and the United States that allocate significantly more resources for education and development.
Bagudu underscored Tinubu’s inclusive leadership style, citing his success in transforming Lagos and emphasizing the President’s commitment to national inclusion and equal opportunity for all. He urged support for Tinubu’s bold economic vision, including the decision to remove fuel subsidies, as crucial steps toward a more prosperous future.
Tope Fasua, Special Adviser on Economic Affairs, echoed Bagudu’s sentiments, emphasizing the ongoing implementation of Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, including plans for a nationwide housing estate initiative.
Additionally, Prof. Yemi Oke, National Coordinator and Convener of P-BAT Academics and Professionals, emphasized the group’s commitment to providing constructive, practical support for the government and promoting inclusive governance.
As members of the P-BAT group, which transformed from supporting Tinubu’s candidacy to supporting the implementation of his agenda post-election, they aim to engage with governance processes, offer critical, objective views, and encourage inclusivity, aiming to steer Nigeria towards a positive future.
Mary Ikoku, the media spokesperson of P-BAT, emphasized that the group comprises professionals and academics who have developed policies for a transformed Nigeria and are actively collaborating with the government for their implementation.
The sentiments expressed at the summit reflect a growing sense of optimism and support for the administration’s efforts to implement significant reforms, albeit acknowledging that their benefits may take time to materialize.
