The Kwara State Government has issued a stern warning to principals of Senior Secondary Schools across the state against imposing unauthorized charges for the registration of students for the upcoming 2024 National Examination Council (NECO) examinations.
During the launch of the registration for the 2024 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, emphasized that any additional fees beyond the approved NECO registration fee set by the ministry would not be tolerated.
Kawu cautioned the principals to refrain from any activities that could tarnish the government’s reputation, emphasizing that violators would face legal consequences. She also underscored the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractices and urged everyone to uphold integrity during the examinations.
Acknowledging the dedication of the principals in fostering a positive relationship with the state ministry of education to enhance education standards, Kawu expressed gratitude for their continuous support.
The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar, represented by the Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply of the Commission, Alhaji Amuda Mohammed Aliyu, highlighted the state government’s efforts in improving teachers’ welfare and urged teachers to reciprocate the governor’s goodwill.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, urged the principals to uphold their reputations before, during, and after the examination.
Mrs. Adewuyi Victoria Funmilayo, the Director of Curriculum and Assessment of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, provided a breakdown of the approved registration fees for the SSCE (NECO) 2024, totaling N28,500.00 per candidate.
President of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools in the State, Comrade Usman Abdullahi, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for appointing the right officials to oversee the education sector in the state.
The government’s strong stance on eradicating unauthorized fees and maintaining academic integrity demonstrates its commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent examination process for students in Kwara State.
