Brentford’s manager, Thomas Frank, expressed his excitement at having Frank Onyeka back for the Bees’ upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool. Onyeka returned to West London after representing Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and is now poised to take on Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The 26-year-old midfielder’s return bolsters Brentford, with Yoane Wissa, a forward from the Democratic Republic of Congo, also rejoining the squad. Onyeka played a pivotal role for Nigeria in the tournament, featuring in all seven games and accumulating 608 minutes on the pitch. Additionally, he topped the charts for tackles (14) and interceptions (11) in the competition.
Frank commended the returnees, stating, “They’ve been important and good for us, so it’s good to have them in training. They’ve come back with energy having had, in many, many ways, fantastic experiences. Unfortunately, they finished second and fourth rather than first and third, but we are very proud of them and what they achieved.”
