Former NHIS Boss Expresses Concern Over National Economic Hardship

Professor Usman Yusuf, the former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, shared his surprise at the South Eastern region’s quiet response to the country’s deepening economic challenges. Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Yusuf called on the President to take immediate action by purchasing and flooding the market with food to alleviate the impending crisis.

Yusuf expressed his bewilderment at the South East’s silence in the face of nationwide agitation against escalating hunger, particularly from the northern and south western regions. He emphasized the urgent need for the President to address the North’s subdued response due to the severity of the situation.

Highlighting the lethality of the North’s quiet suffering during the approaching Ramadan season, Yusuf urged the President to prioritize food distribution, emphasizing the nationwide prevalence of hunger. He cautioned against relying solely on advisers and urged the immediate allocation of funds for food, emphasizing the importance of prompt action over waiting for state governors’ involvement.
