Nigerian singer, Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has spoken out against veteran artist Eedris Abdulkareem’s habit of denigrating his colleagues. Rudeboy accused Eedris of incessantly insulting various artists, including Psquare, 2Face, Timaya, D’banj, and most recently Burna Boy.
Rudeboy alleged that Eedris, known for claiming to have fought for the Nigerian music industry, had actually betrayed his colleagues by accepting meager payment for a 50 Cent show 20 years ago, despite their prior agreement on substantial performance fees. Rudeboy, who had remained silent on the issue for two decades, emphasized that it was time to set the record straight and address Eedris’ sense of entitlement.
Taking to Instagram, Rudeboy expressed his frustration in Pidgin, stating, “Every market day, we hear ‘I fought for the industry. I provided the food you eat.’ I can only laugh. Now you want to respond with music, you will keep responding forever!!! Over 20 years, I have kept silent about what really transpired. How we, as top Nigerian artists back then, unanimously agreed on payment conditions and treatment for the same 50 Cent show, only for this greedy individual to go behind our backs and accept peanuts. Do you expect VIP treatment for accepting peanuts? You keep insulting any artist at every opportunity. If it’s not Tuface, it’s Psquare, Timaya, D’banj, and now Burna. You will have a lot of explaining to do!”
Rudeboy’s candid remarks shed light on the contentious issue between Eedris Abdulkareem and his fellow artists, providing a glimpse into the complexities of the Nigerian music industry.
