Senate Pledges Collaboration with Tinubu to Revamp Education Sector

The Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau, has affirmed the Senate’s commitment to collaborating with the Executive arm of government to rejuvenate Nigeria’s education sector. Barau made this statement during his meeting with the newly inaugurated leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at his office in the National Assembly, Abuja.

Barau emphasized the pivotal role of education in national development and stressed the need to address the challenges in the education sector to set Nigeria on the right path.

He expressed optimism about the current administration’s dedication, particularly under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, to tackle the country’s challenges. Barau highlighted the necessity of cooperation from all stakeholders to elevate the tertiary education sector, citing ongoing efforts within the government and the importance of legislative support.

Addressing the NANS leadership, Barau assured them of his unwavering support and commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for students, acknowledging their significant role as representatives of over 40 million students in Nigeria.

In response, NANS President, Lucky Emonefe, commended Barau as an inspiration and role model to Nigerian students. Emonefe sought Barau’s counsel and endorsement, highlighting the senator’s exceptional support for the association, which they also conveyed to President Bola Tinubu during a prior visit.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of Barau’s continuous support for NANS and his promise to maintain an open-door policy to facilitate an enabling atmosphere for the country’s students.
