In a surprise move, Oliver Glasner has been named the new manager of Crystal Palace, replacing Roy Hodgson. The announcement comes after Hodgson’s sudden departure due to health reasons just before the Monday night Premier League game against Everton.
Hodgson, aged 76, fell ill during training and subsequently underwent hospital tests. However, the club has confirmed that he is now out of the hospital and “doing well.” In a statement, Hodgson mentioned, “I understand, given recent circumstances, it may be prudent at this time for the club to plan ahead, and therefore I have taken the decision to step aside so that the club can bring forward their plans for a new manager, as intended for this summer.”
Crystal Palace wasted no time in confirming Glasner’s appointment shortly after on a contract lasting until the end of the 2025–2026 season. The club seemed eager to move forward and ensure stability in the managerial role.
This unexpected turn of events has left fans and football enthusiasts speculating about the direction in which Glasner will take the team. With this new development, all eyes will be on Crystal Palace as they prepare for the upcoming season under their fresh management.
Stay tuned for more updates as Glasner begins his new journey with the Eagles.
