The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the preliminary round draw for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at their headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. This draw involved the eight lowest-ranked teams in the most recent FIFA rankings.
Preliminary Draw Fixtures:
First Leg:
– Somalia vs. Eswatini
– Sao Tome vs. South Sudan
– Chad vs. Mauritius
– Djibouti vs. Liberia
Second Leg:
– Eswatini vs. Somalia
– South Sudan vs. Sao Tome
– Mauritius vs. Chad
– Liberia vs. Djibouti
Spanning from 20th to 26th March in 2024, these fixtures will be played on a home and away basis. The four victorious teams from the preliminary round will join the 44 exempted teams for the subsequent group stage.
As for the main event, 24 teams will ultimately participate in the AFCON 2025 finals, which are set to be hosted by Morocco.
