Batswana First Lady to Visit Zimbabwean Counterpart

The First Lady of Botswana, Mrs Neo Jane Masisi, is expected to arrive in Zimbabwe today for a three-day visit to meet with her counterpart, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa. The visit aims to facilitate an exchange of ideas and experiences on a range of impactful initiatives.

Mrs. Masisi’s visit underscores the growing bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Botswana, providing an opportunity to foster collaboration in areas such as agriculture and women’s empowerment. The meeting will also serve as a platform for Zimbabwe to showcase the commendable philanthropic efforts of Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, particularly her ‘She Agriculture’ Initiative and the Angel of Hope Foundation, which empower women, youth, and the vulnerable.

The Batswana First Lady has previously commended Dr. Mnangagwa for her promotion of traditional dishes and for empowering women with knowledge of their rights, particularly regarding inheritance issues. Additionally, Dr. Mnangagwa’s advocacy for traditional grains, such as sorghum, rapoko, and millet, which thrive in adverse weather conditions, has garnered global recognition amid concerns about the impact of climate change.

Last year, Dr. Mnangagwa’s efforts were acknowledged at the Global First Ladies Academy in New York, where she stood out for her promotion of traditional grains during discussions on interventions to support vulnerable groups. This visit is anticipated to further strengthen the collaboration between the two First Ladies and contribute to positive changes in their respective countries.
