The Zamfara State Government has made it clear that there is no ban on bread production within the state. Governor Dauda Lawal emphasized that the government’s directive specifically aims to cut off the supply chain to bandits operating across the state.
Following the Bakers’ Association in Zamfara State announcing a cessation of bread production due to the government’s ban on motorcycle deliveries, the state government felt compelled to issue a statement. According to the spokesperson of the Zamfara Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the ban on bread and fuel supply to volatile areas is a strategic move to disrupt the operations of bandits terrorizing the state.
In a statement released in Gusau, the government clarified its stance, emphasizing that it harbors no intention of interfering with the production or sale of bread, an essential item in many households. They reaffirmed their dedication to supporting local businesses and ensuring all citizens have access to vital food supplies.
The government’s proactive strategy involves inhibiting the supply of bread and fuel to unstable areas, as these are considered crucial commodities relied upon by the bandits to carry out their criminal activities. The ultimate goal is to disrupt the operations of the bandits, restore peace and security to affected areas, and protect the lives and properties of the citizens.
The government also quashed rumors causing confusion and concern, reassuring residents and business owners of its commitment to fostering an enabling environment for businesses to flourish in Zamfara State.
