The Nigerian Army has announced the successful neutralization of eight insurgents, including their kingpins, in recent offensives conducted in Igabi, Giwa, and Birnin Gwari Local Government Areas of Kaduna State. The Director of Army Public Relations, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, disclosed that the operations also led to the recovery of additional firearms and ammunition in the affected areas.

The troops, operating within the 1 Division Area of Responsibility, responded to attacks against civilians in Igabi and Giwa Local Government Areas. They engaged the insurgents, who employed rustled herds of cattle as shields during a fighting patrol along the Maganda-Dausayi-Mugaba axis.

During the hour-long firefight, the troops neutralized two insurgents and recovered firearms, ammunition, a mobile phone, vehicle and motorcycle keys, and illicit substances. Unfortunately, rustled livestock were caught in the crossfire. The troops remain committed to pursuing the fleeing insurgents to ensure the area is free from armed violence.

In a separate operation on the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road, the troops successfully ambushed and neutralized six insurgents, recovering additional firearms, ammunition, and destroying 19 motorcycles. It is reported that notorious bandit kingpin Boderi, responsible for orchestrating high-profile kidnappings, was killed in the ambush. Efforts are underway to verify this information using various means.

The public is urged to continue cooperating with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency in the country.
