The Defence Headquarters revealed that in the past week, Nigerian troops accomplished significant achievements in various operations across the country. Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, reported that 286 terrorists were eliminated, 244 were apprehended, and 122 kidnapped hostages were rescued. Additionally, 83 individuals involved in oil theft were arrested, preventing an estimated N2.5 billion loss. Furthermore, the troops seized 587 assorted weapons and 7,943 ammunition items, including a variety of rifles, pistols, and improvised explosive devices, among other items.
In the North East, the Operation Hadin Kai team neutralized 70 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, apprehended 31 others, and rescued 27 kidnapped hostages. Meanwhile, in the North Central, Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke led to the neutralization of 19 insurgents, the arrest of 68 violent extremists, and the rescue of 13 kidnapped hostages. The North West operations by the land and air components of Operation Hadarin Daji were successful in Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara, where a significant number of terrorists were eliminated, and their logistics destroyed.
In the South East, the troops of Operation UDO KA neutralized 39 insurgents, arrested 10 violent extremists, and recovered a substantial arsenal of weapons and ammunition. Additionally, in the Niger Delta region, troops discovered and destroyed numerous illegal refining sites, boats, storage tanks, and recovered millions of liters of stolen crude oil and refined petroleum products.
