The head coach of the Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the limited time available for his team to prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers against Cameroon. The West African team had only three training sessions before their first leg clash with the Indomitable Lionesses and will have just a few days to prepare for the reverse fixture next week.

Waldrum voiced his concerns, stating that the short preparation period is inadequate for the team. However, he remains optimistic that his players will be ready for the game. “Anytime we have an international break, we don’t have much training time especially when you have two matches,” Waldrum told reporters.

The coach emphasized the challenges of preparing for international matches, considering the limited training time, but expressed confidence in the team’s readiness. “I think we are as prepared as we can be. Our players are participating in foreign leagues, and after the World Cup, I believe the players are in high spirits,” Waldrum added. “We have great respect for Cameroon, and we anticipate a fiercely contested match over both legs, but I believe we would be ready.”

As the team gears up for the third round tie, Waldrum has selected a squad of 21 players to represent the Super Falcons in the qualifiers.
