The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has cautioned manufacturers and dealers against the production and sale of counterfeit and substandard goods in Imo State, Nigeria.
During a stakeholders’ meeting in Owerri, the South East Zonal Director of NAFDAC, Martins Iluyomade, emphasized the agency’s commitment to ensuring that products meet both local and international quality standards. He urged industry players to uphold product quality from production to sales without supervision.
Iluyomade disclosed that NAFDAC has established a committee to conduct random market inspections and purchase products for independent analysis, going beyond routine production checks.
State Director Mercy Ndukwe highlighted the meeting’s purpose of informing stakeholders about NAFDAC’s initiatives for the year and preventing inadvertent violations of regulatory guidelines.
Dr. Norbert Ajero, Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria in Imo State, pledged continued support for NAFDAC’s efforts to uphold product quality and consumer safety in the region.
