Activist Abandons Labour Party for Ruling APC in Ebonyi State

Ambassador Obinna Ukor, a prominent member of the Obedient Movement in Southeast States, has made a significant political shift by leaving the Labour Party (LP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State. Ukor’s decision to align with the APC stems from his admiration for Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s leadership qualities, which transcend party lines according to the activist.

The formal declaration took place at the APC’s state Headquarters in Abakaliki, Ebonyi’s capital, signaling a new chapter in Ukor’s political journey. During the event, Ukor emphasized the peaceful atmosphere and progress visible throughout Ebonyi State under Governor Nwifuru’s administration, urging his compatriots, especially those in the Diaspora, to unite in developing their shared homeland.

Accompanying Ukor in joining the APC was Fred Ukor, his cousin, who lauded the Nwifuru-led government for its impactful youth empowerment initiatives, particularly in uplifting street hawkers and laborers. Fred acknowledged the positive transformation brought about by the administration, highlighting the significant improvements in the lives of Ebonyi residents, especially the youth.

The reception of the defectors by the APC state chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, underscored their crucial role in the 2023 general elections, which contributed to the emergence of a Southeast presidential candidate of Igbo origin. Emegha expressed gratitude for their unwavering commitment and urged them to channel the same energy and dedication shown during the Obedient Movement towards supporting Governor Nwifuru’s vision for the state’s progress.

Emegha’s call for unity and collaboration resonated with the ethos of inclusivity and collective effort championed by Governor Nwifuru, positioning Ebonyi State on a trajectory of growth and development. The convergence of diverse voices and experiences within the APC signifies a broader commitment to advancing the welfare and prosperity of Ebonyi’s populace under the guidance of a dynamic leadership team.
