Lagos Commissioner Ensures Replacement of Elevator Following Tragic Accident

The Lagos State Government is taking swift action to replace the elevator that led to the tragic death of a resident doctor at General Hospital, Odan. The Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has confirmed the commencement of the replacement process.

Dr. Vwaere Diaso lost her life when the elevator malfunctioned, causing a fatal crash from the 10th floor to the ground floor on August 1, 2023. She was on her way down to collect a food delivery when the incident occurred.

Prof. Abayomi stated that a contract has been awarded to a reputable construction company to install a new elevator, emphasizing the importance of addressing the root cause of the accident before proceeding with the replacement. The commissioner highlighted the need to ensure the safety of healthcare workers and avoid future incidents.

Residents are urged to be patient as the government works diligently to prevent any similar tragedies from happening again.
