APC Faces New Crisis as Idahosa Rejects Okpebholo’s Emergence as Edo Gubernatorial Candidate

Tensions rise within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Dennis Idahosa refuses to accept Senator Monday Okpebholo as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the Edo State election on September 21, 2024.
Despite congratulations from other governorship aspirants like Prince Clem Ikanade Agba and Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, Idahosa expresses dissatisfaction with the election process. He denounces the results declared by the committee led by Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State, labeling it a betrayal of democracy in Edo State.
In a press statement released in Benin City, Idahosa vows to pursue every internal party avenue for justice and promises to keep his supporters informed of his next steps if internal redress fails.
Grateful for the unwavering support of his followers across the state, the lawmaker representing Ovia Federal Constituency reiterates his commitment to seeking justice through the party’s channels. He urges his supporters to remain peaceful despite the challenging circumstances.
In a separate development, Prince Clem Agba announces his decision to support Senator Monday Okpebholo for the party’s victory, emphasizing the importance of party unity for success in the upcoming elections.
Dr. Ernest Umakhihe also extends his congratulations to Okpebholo, lauding APC for showcasing internal democracy. He pledges his support and well-wishes for Okpebholo’s campaign towards victory in the Edo Governorship Election.
As the political landscape in Edo State evolves, the APC navigates through internal dissent while striving to maintain solidarity for a triumphant electoral outcome.
