Over the weekend, Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, took the oath of office for three new caretaker committee Chairmen. This move came after the recent dismissal of their predecessors by the State House of Assembly.
Governor Alia charged the newly appointed committee members, Hon Verlumun Avar for Gboko LGA, Hon Victor Iorzaa for Ukum LGA, and Hon. Justin Shaku for Katsina Ala LGA, to uphold accountability and transparency in their duties.
The ousted chairmen were accused of mismanaging and misappropriating local government funds. Governor Alia emphasized the importance of rejuvenating the local government administration to better serve the people.
Underlining the significant role of local governments in providing essential services, Governor Alia warned against any form of resource mismanagement. He urged the new appointees to usher in positive changes in their respective communities.
In response, Hon Justin Shaku of Katsina Ala LGA conveyed gratitude to the Governor for entrusting them with the opportunity to serve.
These developments signal a fresh start for local governance in Benue State, with the aim of fostering efficiency, accountability, and service delivery for the benefit of all residents.
