Rivers State APC Leader Condemns Lack of Governance and Economic Strategy

Chief Tony Okocha, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, criticized Governor Siminilaye Fubara’s administration, alleging a lack of governance and economic foresight. Okocha expressed concern that Rivers State cannot be disregarded as a mere ground for inept leadership.

During a recent address, Okocha highlighted the absence of proactive measures by the Rivers State Government to mitigate the current economic challenges facing Nigeria. He emphasized that while other states are focusing on industrialization for food security amidst economic hardships, Rivers State is seemingly preoccupied with frivolous activities.

Okocha emphasized the need for Governor Fubara to think innovatively to support the Federal Government’s efforts towards economic recovery, akin to his counterparts in other states. He urged Fubara to prioritize policy explanations and practical solutions, drawing attention to positive initiatives in states like Niger, Borno, Anambra, and Lagos.

Citing examples of agricultural investments and poverty alleviation strategies in various states, Okocha challenged Governor Fubara to step up or face consequences. He criticized Fubara for ignoring presidential directives, specifically the presentation of the 2024 budget, and cautioned about financial irresponsibility without a budget in place.

In conclusion, Okocha resonated that the Rivers State House of Assembly would hold the government accountable, emphasizing the importance of checks and balances in governance.
