Nigerian troops have dealt a significant blow to banditry in the region by eliminating two wanted bandit leaders, Baldo and Baban Yara, in the Katsina-Zamfara axis. This successful operation comes shortly after the elimination of another notorious bandit, Boderi, in Kaduna.
The top militants, Baldo and Baban Yara, were responsible for orchestrating the movement and exchange of kidnapped victims within camps located in the volatile Zamfara/Katsina axis. According to a defense intelligence source, the lethal encounter took place on Saturday during a well-coordinated military offensive in the region.
In the fierce gun battle at Aliero West axis, Nigerian troops not only took down the two notorious bandit kingpins but also eliminated 28 of their armed accomplices. The intensified military operations in the North West region signify a resolute commitment to eradicating criminal elements and restoring peace and security to the area.
A military intelligence operative highlighted the primary objective of the ongoing operations, stating, “We aim to cleanse the region of all criminal elements, thereby enabling farmers to resume their agricultural activities without fear or interruption.”
An eyewitness account from a local source, who actively participated as a security volunteer, emphasized the swift and decisive nature of the military operation. The precision ambush tactics employed by the troops left no room for escape, particularly targeting motorcycle-riding militants.
With a collective effort to sustain such operations, the region looks forward to a resurgence in agricultural productivity, allowing farmers to return to their fields confidently. As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the hope for a peaceful and secure fasting period resonates among the local populace, buoyed by the recent successes against banditry.
