From Football Field to Center Stage: Pasuma’s Musical Journey

Renowned Nigerian artist, Wasiu Alabi Odetola, better known as Pasuma, recently shared a hidden chapter of his life. Despite starting as a footballer, Pasuma transitioned to music after missing out on the chance to represent Nigeria in the 1985 FIFA U-16 World Championship in China.

During a candid conversation with Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo, Pasuma unveiled that his shift towards music was sparked by Wasiu Ayinde’s groundbreaking album “Talazo ’84,” which captivated audiences worldwide. Reflecting on his past, Pasuma expressed, “I was a footballer aiming for the World Cup but fate took me on a different path.”

Recalling his journey, Pasuma reminisced, “I was on the brink of sporting glory when I failed to secure a spot for CODAK 85. I missed the opportunity to compete at the World Cup, and that’s when music beckoned me.”

With a background in professional soccer, Pasuma embraced music wholeheartedly, marking a pivotal moment that altered the course of his life. Today, his decision echoes through time, defining his legacy in the music industry.
