Nigerian Army Denies Coup Allegations Against Tinubu Government

The Nigerian Army has swiftly debunked rumors circulating about a potential coup targeting President Bola Tinubu’s administration, categorizing the claims as “fake news”. Amidst speculation, there were unverified reports suggesting heightened alert within the presidential guards due to suspicions of a coup plot in Nigeria over the weekend.
Allegations insinuated that crucial brigades were being closely monitored while the Commander of the Presidential Guards Brigade, Col. Adebisi Onasanya, reportedly held discussions with Tinubu and his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. Despite such conjectures, the Nigerian Army promptly dismissed the claims as “FAKE NEWS” on their official platform.
Nigeria is currently grappling with heightened tensions resulting from economic adversities, surging inflation rates, and the escalated cost of living subsequent to the removal of fuel subsidies and the floatation of the naira by President Tinubu.
In response to the escalating situation, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, sternly cautioned against any advocacy for a coup and urged individuals to refrain from engaging in such activities.
