Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State asserts that the Nigerian Army possesses the capability to eradicate all armed factions causing unrest in the nation. He made this statement during the 2023 West African Social Activities of the Nigerian Army’s IV Special Forces command in the Doma Local Government Area of the state.
Commending the army and other security agencies for their relentless efforts against kidnapping, banditry, and other security challenges in the country, Governor Sule also praised the Special Forces’ personnel for their dedication in combatting criminal elements within the state.
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Governor Sule commended the force for organizing the annual social event, WASA, which aims to foster unity among officers and their families from diverse ethnic backgrounds in the military. He emphasized that the event provided an avenue for cultural exchange and camaraderie among soldiers and families, showcasing the Nigerian Army’s commitment to social interaction within its ranks.
Addressing the IV Special Forces’ specialized roles encompassing air-bound operations, counterinsurgency, counterterrorism, foreign-internal defense, and unconventional warfare, Governor Sule expressed his acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by brave servicemen in safeguarding the nation.
Assuring continued support from the state government, Governor Sule pledged assistance through the provision of security vehicles and other resources to enhance security operations, ensuring the safety of citizens and their properties.
The Commander of the Special Forces command, Maj.-Gen Hillary Nzan, underscored the essence of WASA in providing a platform for officers and soldiers to unwind and engage with one another and civilians outside their regular duties. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating crimes and safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity.
Awards of excellence were conferred upon five officers for their outstanding performance, reflecting the commitment of the Nigerian Army in upholding national defense and security.
