Renowned Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Igboho, has called on traditional leaders in the Southwest to join forces with him in eradicating criminal activities and banditry from the region.
Igboho emphasized the importance of collaboration with traditional rulers to effectively tackle the prevailing insecurity in the Southwest.
In a statement he issued, he expressed concern over the devastating impact of insecurity, particularly the loss of lives and the ongoing farmer-herder conflicts in the region.
“I am open to the idea and I pledge to work tirelessly to combat insecurity, provided that I have the support of the relevant security agencies, Yoruba monarchs, and other key stakeholders,” Igboho stated.
“The rise in insecurity, fueled by banditry and clashes between herders and farmers, has resulted in tragic deaths and extensive destruction of farmlands, forcing farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs to abandon their settlements in Yorubaland,” he added.
“It is imperative that we rid our forests of criminal elements who are using these areas as bases to disrupt the peace in our communities, towns, and villages. I am prepared to offer my assistance in this crucial endeavor,” Igboho affirmed.
