Benue State Government Bans Political Gatherings Due to Insecurity

The Benue State Government has recently implemented a ban on all political gatherings and meetings within the state. This decision was made in response to the escalating insecurity in the region, prompting Governor Hyacinth Alia to take action.

The ban, which applies to both intra-party and inter-group meetings, is a direct result of the volatile security situation in Benue. Chief of Staff, Paul Biam, emphasized the necessity of this measure, citing the unprecedented influx of armed herdsmen into the state as a major factor contributing to the heightened security risks.

In a letter addressed to the state Commissioner of Police, Biam urged for strict enforcement of the ban to ensure compliance and maintain public safety. The government’s priority is to address the security challenges and protect the residents of Benue from potential threats.

This decision underscores the gravity of the security concerns in the state and highlights the government’s commitment to safeguarding the well-being of its citizens. As the situation continues to evolve, the authorities are taking proactive steps to mitigate risks and maintain peace and stability in Benue.

By imposing this ban on political gatherings and meetings, the Benue State Government is sending a clear message that security is paramount and must be prioritized above all else. As the state navigates through these challenging times, unity and cooperation will be essential in overcoming the security challenges and building a safer future for all residents.
