Somali and Regional Forces Target Al-Shabaab Bases, Neutralize Dozens in Lower Jubba Operation

In a daring and coordinated effort, Somali and regional forces joined hands to launch a strategic operation targeting Al-Shabaab’s main strongholds in the Lower Jubba region. The mission, which unfolded along the river in Jamame district, dealt a significant blow to the terrorist group, with over 30 members eliminated in the process. This decisive action underscores the unwavering commitment of the Federal Government of Somalia to combat extremism and restore peace and stability to the region.

The collaborative efforts of government forces, supported by Jubaland Darwish forces, have intensified in recent days, signaling a relentless pursuit of Al-Shabaab operatives. The resolute determination to root out terrorism from the region has been met with resounding success, as evidenced by the significant losses suffered by the extremist group.

However, in a brazen display of defiance, the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab faction has claimed victory in the ongoing conflict in the southern Lower Jubba region. Despite their bold assertions, the reality on the ground tells a different story, with the Ministry of Defense confirming the successful neutralization of 19 militants and the capture of 9 others in a recent operation in Bar Sanguuni, Lower Juba. This strategic maneuver not only disrupted enemy supply lines but also led to the seizure of weapons and the dismantling of explosive devices, further weakening the terrorist organization’s grip on the region.

As the battle against terrorism rages on, the resolve of Somali and regional forces remains unshaken, as they continue to wage a relentless campaign to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of innocent civilians. The recent operations serve as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the authorities to uphold peace and security in the face of adversity. Together, they stand united in their pursuit of a brighter and more secure future for the people of Somalia and beyond.
